Sugilite ranges in color from deep purple to pale lavender and
even sometimes appears as violet blue. It was discovered in 1944 in Japan
by Professor Kenici Sugi, which is where Sugilite gets it's name. It is also
known as "Royal Azel" and "Luvulite." It has
enjoyed a phenomenal growth in popularity. It is most commonly mentioned as in tune with the 3rd Eye, therefore increasing psychic abilities. It is said to provide a barrier from all negativity, both physical and non-physical. Sugalite is believed to be effective against "psychic vampirism" where the spirit and energy of an individual is being drained away--either by an individual or situation. Sugalite is said to assist in opening the 6th Chakra, or "3rd Eye" which facilitates intuition, psychic awareness, ESP and insight. Sugilite attracts healing power. It is sometimes called
"A love stone for this age" and represents perfection of spiritual
love. It can help one to forgive oneself and others as well as bring
forth acceptance and belief in oneself. It eliminates hostility and
infuses the being with inspiration and confidence. Sugalite is sometimes associated with the Plutonian sign of Scorpio in Western Astrology.
